Barrel Bash this past weekend in Buckeye AZ was so much Fun!!  They really know how to run a great Race!!  And my horse Mater really worked Awesome even won some money!! Yippee I can still compete, sometimes it is so hard to just hop back on after traveling for business for 2 weeks and trying to get the mojo working!   It felt so great to be a part of everything and see all the Cowgirl Tuff jeans walking around… I still pinch myself sometimes as it so cool to see so many loving our jeans & tops.  It felt so good to able to spend time just hangin out with some new friends I have made down here and talking barrel talk!  I even got to meet the gal who works with professional armed forces rodeo…How much more Tuff could someone be?  Protect our country and rodeo!!  I am excited to work that assoc.  that is for sure!! Well we only have 1 more week left in AZ and it is back to the up north living, I am ready though.  I miss my daughter Lexie and my grandson Devyn so much!!  And I am so excited to get ready for all the spring races, rodeos and seeing everyone seems like such a long time since I have seen all the barrel buddies up there.  Also can’t wait to get back in the office with my Tuff Team!  We have so much great stuff to get working on for this year… it is so Exciting!!!

March 9, 2011

I am so deeply touched by all the Tuff Cowgirl Stories on barrelhorseworld.com… most of which I am just teared up over.  The ones who have lost their best friends sure brings me back to all  the horses I have loved & lost through the years and it never gets any easier. The stories of pure determination, perseverance and the never give up attitude!  Wow, these stories sure show the true Spirit of what a Cowgirl really is… it isn’t always about horses but real life stories of real strong girls & women..  I am in true awe of all the finalists.
Good Luck to all of you!
What a Great Contest that Barrel Horse World put together with us ..This will be Exciting to see the winners!
P.S.  You all look so great in your Cowgirl Tuff Duds!!

Soakin’ up the Sun!
February 8, 2011

Now I know where all the barrel racers go this time of the year! Arizona- where they call 50 degrees cold! Well this Minnesota girl is really going to soak up as many rays of sunshine as possible! I feel so lucky to be down here for a few months with my horses! We are staying in Casa Grande at the Walking L Ranch where the people are so friendly & the arena is huge! My horses still have to get used to a 18+ second pen!!
They are used to much smaller pens in MN…they sure run out of steam on the way home!

Last weekend Cowgirl Tuff got to be a part of the Beth Cooper Memorial Race! It was so much fun to meet everybody & promote our jeans with Dynamite Tack!  By the second day I saw a lot of barbwire on back pockets and it was fun to hear the responses of first time wearers of our jeans! We did the Lucky Draw and got some jean winners! I also did my favorite promo where I call out a random draw number and if they are wearing our jeans I give them $100 out of my pocket!! What Fun!! So I chose the last rider of the day, and yes, she won $100!

Tonight I am headed to a jackpot in Buckeye which is where our next big Cowgirl Tuff Barrel Bash will be held March 11-13. If you are down here, make sure to come. We have a lot of great fun stuff planned! Wear your CTC & you could Win!!

Well, gotta give my guys baths today as they love to roll in all the sand down here!

SEE YA AT THE RACES!
RIDE HARD & NEVER GIVE UP!!

First Blog…here we go!
January 25, 2011

My First Official Blog! I would like to start this off with a Huge Thank You to all of you who have supported Cowgirl Tuff Co.  It has been a “Wild Ride” growing this company and I could not have done it without all of you!  People don’t believe me when I tell them I started this all out of my trailer going to events in hopes to pay my entry fees! But it is true!

I was so addicted to the rush of barrel racing & I loved clothes…so it was natural fit. I worked in the fashion industry during the week and rode horses nights & weekends. Back in late 1999, it was different concept to produce a sportswear line for Cowgirls, but the girls & ladies sure supported my line of sportswear!  Actually, I still see some gals wearing some vintage pieces, which is so cool. They definitely like them and got their money’s worth!

As I grew the company, I realized how different Cowgirl Tuff Company  is compared to other companies..……that there is a real Person/Cowgirl behind the scenes… ME! My team that works for and with me remind me how cool it is that I am a real normal gal who loves to ride and race!  I am just like our customers, which keeps me in touch with needs, wants and what is cool right now! My best days are when I can sit on my horses trail riding, racing or just hanging out with my boys..Bird, Mater & Spider. It is also so great that I work with my husband of 23 yrs and my daughter Lexie who was raised in the Cowgirl Tuff business.

2010 was a break out year for Cowgirl Tuff Jeans. We really made our mark in the Jean industry. I am so thrilled at how many love our jeans, as I tried to make them fit the True American Cowgirl, designed by a True American Cowgirl!  We all need comfort of stretch, length for riding, and Of Course ..STYLE, STYLE, STYLE!

The “Don’t Fence Me In Jeans” proved to be our signature jeans and so we offered many colors and washes so you can have a variety of one great look that you know is Cowgirl Tuff! I love to hear customers say they are comfortable to ride in all day and stylish enough to wear out on the town that night!

Other big events in 2010: moving the company to a larger location and off our land! We now have a real
home : ) New Awesome Website, Facebook-Fans!!!  Added many great team members to our staff, more new stores, working with Western Wishes and lots of Cowgirl Tuff events…

2011 starts off with a Bang! New B. Tuff Jeans men’s line! We are so excited to ship out our new jeans that are so cool for the guys! We decided to produce this line with the same idea as Cowgirl Tuff…edgy without being over the edge! Something different than what is already being offered in western stores… We thrive to be different and make our own path!

These are such exciting times and I once again want to thank all of you for your support!

Ride Hard! & Never Give Up!

“Never Give Up”-Inspirational Stories

On September 5th 2010 at a rodeo in Sonoita, Az my world was turned upside down when the horse trailer I was staying in suddenly blew up. Unsure of the severity of my injuries I was rushed to the Burn Unit at the Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Az. Having my skin scraped and comforted as much as possible it was pronounced that 44% of my body was covered in burns and it was predicted I would be an in-patient there for about 44 days. Frightened and in pain I told myself it would all be ok, that I could handle this challenge to just keep my faith strong and the lord would handle the rest.

After a few days my belongings(which all survived the flash explosion) were taken out of the trailer and brought to the hospital which included some headbands that I made for myself. My mom had taken them out to show one of my nurses and she loved them so she told some of the others about them and pretty soon I had nurses coming in my room daily asking to see these famous rhinestone accented bandanas! Then I had nurses asking to buy them I had never thought of selling them I had made them to turn a bad hair day into a cute up-do day. Arriving to Arizona with six I came home with one.

After two skin grafting surgeries I had learned I needed no more surgery, and that everything was now healing very well. As days went on my skin especially hands got tight and I was having trouble with my motor skills. My Occupational Therapist suggested once I was released to make headbands they could very strongly help my lack of motion in my hands because stitching and rhinestone setting could be very tedious work. So after 18 days I had relearned to walk and starting to use my hands once again and the next day on September 22nd I was released from the hospital.

I started making headbands less than a week after that and still at it. Now I have full range of motion back in my hands and use headband making as a type of occupational therapy.

Thank you for your interest in my headbands (and shirt) and story!

Hometown: Wiggins, CO

Most Memorable Achievement:  There have been so many that I have treasured, it is hard to pick just one.  I guess I would say it was winning the short-round at Cheyenne and the WPRA Mountain States Circuit title in 2009 on a horse I trained.

People would be surprised to learn: I have a degree in Economics.  I love animals in general (ok, except snakes and mice).  I think I am more comfortable around animals than people, really!  I love a great book.  I believe that the greatest things you can do in life are to be a witness for God and to love your children unconditionally.

Current Horse(s): Guys On A High, The Money Chaser, and A Master Disaster along with multiple colts!

Favorite Motto: It’s not what happens to you in life…It’s what you do about it!

Favorite Event(s): Barrel racing in general!  I go a lot of fun places, I would hate to just pick one.  Other than that, I really enjoy watching a great calf horse and a perfect saddle bronc ride.

Favorite Cowgirl Tuff Outfit: There are so many!  I love the “Midnight Rocks” jeans and of course my stand-by “Don’t Fence Me In” along with nearly every shirt.  I love the layering capabilities of the shirts.
